The Giving Foundation for Women & Children isn’t your typical nonprofit, it’s a movement.
Founded in 2010 by Washington, DC news anchor, Shawn Yancy, The GFWC provides scholarships
to young mothers in college and vital resources to economically disadvantaged children across the DC region.

Young Scholars Fund
The Young Scholars Fund empowers young mothers in college to pursue their education and build brighter futures for their families. Through scholarships, mentorship, and access to essential resources like childcare, food, and housing support -- the program helps remove financial barriers that often derail academic success.
Our goal is simple but powerful — to ensure every young mother has the opportunity to earn her college degree, provide stability for her children, and create a lasting cycle of opportunity and achievement.
